QuestionI am concerned. I have seen my doctor about waking up and not being able to use my legs well because of moderate (but painful enough to make me stop in my tracks when i first notice it)calf pain that eventually I am able to walk off. This happened a few time in morning over past year and now several months later Ijust had a more painful episode this week that lasted a few days and went away. It feels great while I am walking but when stop it returns when I stand again. Nerve scan in legs showed nerves in leg and muscle electricity fine. Now what? I have moderate scoliosis of the spine but have two curves that keep me straight and don't have pain, my PCP is not concerned, but I feel something is wrong and I don't want to go around fearing MS or my chiropractor. What should I do and what is my chiropractor not telling me that he should be--he just adjusts and doesn't comment. Just by gut feeling alone, can adjustments damage the sheath when your spine isn't willing to move with the adjustments due to scoliosis? Last but not least, what type of specialist should I be looking into? My PCP isn't concerned with MS and I just think that's crazy when they don't know what's causing it. I appreciate any thoughts and expertise.
Many blessings for the work you all do,
Kim
AnswerKim,
If your PCP is not concerned get a second opinion from another PCP. Also you could go to a naturopath and get a complete blood work up done to see what is actually happening with your physiology. Let them know that you suspect or are fearful that you have MS or are in the early stages. The blood work up is just an all around good idea.
Also look up the side effects of any medications you may be taking if any at all. See if they mention neuropathy or leg pains...you might be surprised. Also you can have pain in your legs and have a normal EMG or nerve test because usually those testsare for the larger motor nerves and not for the smaller sensory nerves which allows you to feel pain.
The idea of nerve pain and calf cramping could be a simple nutritional deficiency. Actually you could be to acidic or to alkaline. With that being said it is very difficult to diagnose MS and a lot of doctors just shrug it off.
You should have a complete blood work up by a health care physician that practices function blood work. You also need to complete work up to determine if you have a condition called neuropathy.
As far as adjustments to your spine, considering your scoliosis, I opine that it is safe to recieve the adjustment procedure unless you feel the chiropractor is being to forceful. To cause damage to your sheath would be almost impossible to do unless the chiropractor is just incompetent or actually just too forceful.
I hope this sheds some light on your health issues.
