Question
Dear David, At birth I had the misfortune to be a very large baby 11Lbs 6oz, doctor apparently too happy from a night out used forceps to deliver me(64 yrs ago) and it resulted in Erb Palsy. My parents took me for alot of therapy, brought me up to do the best I could with undersized, partially paralyzed arm. Go forward about 35 yrs, hit by a drunk driver, injured arm further, now has a metal plate & pins and have also fallen and broke left wrist in three spots. Now at 64 doctor says I have scholiosis, sciatica and lower back pain. Can you tell me is this a result of the damage to my arm at birth and what might help as I move into retirement. I am very active, walk, try to work out, am a retired school principal & still teaching part-time. I don't want these problems to keep from a productive active senior life. Thanks for your advice!! BS

Answer
my guess is you've had scoliosis for many years and this is recent. There are many causes of scoliosis. You need to see a chiropractor to have the misalignments in your spine corrected. The scoliosis is contributing to the sciatica. see a chiropractor and bring your x rays into him/her. i do not think it is a result of your arm problem or erb's palsy.
