Question
I am 43 year old mom of 4 young children.  I am active and worried to the point of stressed.  I started with vertigo 8 weeks ago and after six it stopped.  Than the last two neck pain and numbness of top of head, forehead and cheeks.  Last night when I leaned into the massager on my neck kinda made me sick.  Right now top of my shoulders are tight.  I am on A low carb diet.  Started taking a natural CaMg vitamin the past two days and think I have less numbness.

Because of the dizziness an MRI was done of my brain and I have not got in to see a neurologist yet but maybe it is only an incidental finding: vascular lesion in the left cerebellar hemisphere suggestive of venous angioma; possibility of a small arteriovenous malformation.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions I can follow.

Answer
Dear Karen,

Your question was not answered by the doctor that you requested, so it ended up in the question pool.  I am glad to give you my opinion and hope that it will benefit you some.

I am sorry about the dizziness and the neck pain and numbness.  I am thrilled to see that you have had an MRI and that you are scheduled to visit a neurologist. The lesions on the brain need to be evaluated at length and watched for any advancement, and a neurologist is the perfect one to do so.

That being said, it is possible that the MRI findings are just incidental, and that they have been there for a long time. It is possible that your dizziness, neck pain, and numbness are not related to the MRI findings at all.

The only advise that I have is to follow through with the neurologist. This is something that needs complete evaluation, diagnosis, and monitoring. If the vascular issues of the brain are now stable, I believe that the symptoms you are experiencing will gradually ease up, but that is for your doctor to determine.

Good luck!
