Soreness after first 2 weeks of Chiro visits?

Question
Hello,
I have gone through 4 spinal adjustment sessions in the past 2 weeks. (2 vertebrae done - twice each).  The first session went fine, but after #2 I began to feel overall soreness in the general area where the adjustments were made, which makes it hard to lean back in a chair when it puts pressure on that area.

Is this is normal occurence or could something possibly have gone wrong with the adjustment?  Is this normal after 2 weeks of sessions and are there any tips to help the pain subside?

Thanks very much!

Answer
Dear Rick

4 Adjustments in 2 weeks is not much at all, and it is very common to be sore after treatment. Change takes time, and change can create soreness of muscles and joints. Chiropractic is extremely safe generally, so it is highly unlikely that anything has gone "wrong" in the adjustments. Tenderness in the area of the adjustment probably means that you have some inflammation in that area, which might respond very well to some ice therapy or to some interferential electrical stimulation therapy in the doctor's office.

You still need to give your doctor and yourself some time.  Perhaps your chiropractor could alter his/her techniques a little bit to see if you respond with less soreness to another method.

Good luck with your chiropractic therapy. Try some ice packs after adjustments, and give your body a chance to adjust to the chiropractic treatments.
