QuestionI have been seeing a chiropractor for a few days and the xrays showed that my neck is completely straight it has no curve to it so he wants to correct that. And also he said i have scoliosis as well. But my main problem is that i feel like all the bones in my head and face are shifting and i keep feeling this movement but no one understands what im talking about. I also feel like all my muscles in my neck and shoulders have moved all out of place. I feel so bad everywhere and I let him start the adjustment on my neck with this clicking tool and the first attempt put so much pressure on me that I got scared and had him stop. Afterwards I felt slightly better but I had weird feeling in the back of my head where it meets the spine and also not a painful tiny bump. Do you know why that happened. I want any help I can get my quality of life is unbearable at this point I feel like everything in my head face neck and throughout the rest of my body is out of place and numb. If I have facial and misalignments and he corrects my upper spine could that cause bone fracture or anything to be scared if. I want to let him help me but also don't want him to hurt me.. I am so stressed out about this, I cry all day and just want some relief but I don't think this chiropractor knows the extent of what Im feeling in my head and face. I am so frightened by this and I just want my head and face to look and feel normal again. Should I go ahead with the adjustment and will it be safe considering my symptoms or what else can or should I do. Please help me..
AnswerShannon,
First off I will start out by telling you that chiropractic is most likely your best solution. However, I will have you know that not all chiropractors are created equal. For some reason, people will try medical doctors and go from one to another until they are happy with their choice, but they will try chiropractic. Whichever chiropractor that they go to will represent the entire profession to them, and that is not fair to chiropractic. Besides that and probably most importantly, is that the patient doesn't really get the opportunity to get well in this way.
For example, I do have many patients that have never been to a chiropractor before but most have been to not only 1, but like 3 or 4 before finding out about our specialty and experiencing very differently with very different and positive results.
Now, as long as this doctor is doing testing which tells him what to do or not do and where and when, then it is likely that he will help you to some degree. If he is just having you come in and is manipulating up and down the spine without doing some adequate testing first to be sure that he knows exactly what he is doing on any given visit then you do not want to continue there.
You can respond to this message or follow up and let me know what is happening with this chiropractor on a more specific level.
At this point, I do not want you to be alarmed, most chiropractors do good and help people, so the odds are in your favor.
Yours in Best Health,
Dr Robert Arnone
