QuestionI am 18 and i used to lift weights around 12. I remember i felt a painful bulging sensation in my middle back towards the right. the area felt very warm. i did it doing bicep curls. the pain didnt persist but when i do certain weight exercises the pain comes back and i feel like my rib is popping out. Deadlift is one exercise that causes pain and trying to screw in a nail with my right hand. I exercise everyday and get a wide variety of exercise such as yoga, weight lifting, running, sometimes plyometrics, calisthenics, ect. The only times i feel pain is when i do deadlifts, bent over waist twist, screwing in nails with my right hand, and maybe only a couple others. My relative is a retired chiropractor and diagnosed me with a seperated rib. He didnt do scans he just felt with his hands. I have not been to other any type of doctor. He pushed it back in with a device that looked like a mini pogo stick. My back felt instantly releived but later my muscles got tight and it felt like my rib popped out even more. I have no pain until i do the exercises mentioned. I was wondering what my options are for treatment and any advice you could give me that could help.
AnswerFollow up with a local reputable chiropractor, have a full evaluation and undergo some regular treatments for a few weeks. It sounds like a rib dysfunction problem and muscle injury. Avoid activities that aggravate the area. Have the area and spine xrayed, adjustments and soft tissue work should take care of it. I am having huge success with a therapeutic laser.
