QuestionThank you Dr. Brown for your assistance.
My daughter-in-law is pregnant and went for a chiropractic adjustment approx. 2 months ago. She was give the gown to put on and when the dr. came back in the room she was told to turn in around so that the opening was in the front. During the adjustment the dr. touched her breast under the gown. She is quite shaken by this experience. I have had adjustments myself over the years and have never run into something like this. Would this be considered inappropriate in the chiropractic world?
Thank you
AnswerHello Maureen,
I would also be concerned if a member of my family had the experience you report. I have practiced chiropractic for more than 30 years and I can assure you that spinal analysis does not require fondling the breast.
Your daughter should be under chiropractic care during her pregnancy and it is regrettable that she did not receive it. I encourage her to seek a competent chiropractor so that she receives necessary spinal analysis and adjustments during and after her pregnancy. Chiropractic care done correctly is safe, effective and important for pregnant women. The following link can be used to find a qualified practitioner in her area: http://www.upcspine.com/prac1.asp
