QuestionHi,
I am hoping for a little help here. I guess i should start with abit of history. I am, were, what you would qualify as an inactive person. I didn't do a whole lot with my body, and figured i would change that in order to get more energy. I did this 1 - 1.5 years ago, and i've been feeling better. What i di was regular running (5 kilometers), and weight training 3 times a week, coupled with some volleyball, snowboarding you know, anything that might be fun.
However, 3 weeks ago, i was doing first some snatches, then some squats, and then some bench presses. During my bench presses my right shoulder (Deltoid i don't know which one of them), started to hurt. Quite alot actually. So i figured i had pulled something, and left it for the day. I came back 2 days later, and the pain didn't stop at in my shoulder when i was doing lifts, but continued down my arm. So being the person that i am, and not wanting to bother my doctor (i live in Denmark, we have free health care but there is no reason to exploit this system). I left it alone for 2.5 weeks. Just today, i went down to my gym again, and the pain is still there. So i'm wondering what have i done to my shoulder, and how do i stop it from happening again, and even more importantly how do i fix it?
AnswerHello,
It is hard to give a diagnosis without examining you myself. Your injury may involve the deltoid but it may also involve the rotator cuff muscles. There are four rotator cuff muscles, their job is to maintain stability in the shoulder. In other words, they keep the arm in the socket. I recommend that you visit a doctor or better yet visit a chiropractor or physiotherapist for a proper diagnosis. Rest and ice are a good idea, but you will need some additional care.
Hope this helps.
