Questionmy chiropractor took ex-ray's and told me that my neck has lost 73.3% of the normal curve in my neck and that my head is 14.6 mm forward... what i am wondering is... is there anyway that i can fix this on my own? my insurance doesn't cover chiropractors and on military pay i cant really afford it... also my lower back has gained 10.9% lower back curve and my rib cage is positioned 21.1 mm backwards relative to my pelvis.. could this be due to the fact that i am 5ft petite and heavy chested? is there anything you would recommend that could help correct my spinal issues and help relieve the pain? my lower back and neck are in pain quite often most of the time i can ignore it but there are times it brings me to tears... thank you for any and all advice..
AnswerI would not over concern yourself with all these measurements. Yes, postural changes cause strain on the spine and leads to times of pain. You can perform exercises to help with flexibility and stiffness. If the chiropractor you are seeing is suggesting long term care to try and correct all these postural changes, you can always seek a second opinion with a chiropractor that performs short term care and pain relief, releases you from care to where you can drop in as needed. Either approach is fine, I am not all that convinced that chasing down these measurements is necessary to successfully treat the patient.
