QuestionHi I am a 28yo male, 140lbs 6% body fat. All my life I've had boney bumps where the AC joint is on my shoulders. My clavicles are not parallel to the ground like most people's they are at about a 25-30 degree angle relative to the ground and they sit forward (people are always telling me standup straight shoulders back). This may not be related but I also suffer from TMJ and was told I have an elevated first rib and unusually weak/underdeveloped upper pectoral muscles by a Phys. Therapist. Not only are the bumps unsettling, but because my clavicles seem like they won't relax and come down, it looks almost as if I'm constantly shrugging and have these boney protrusions. I am actually able to push down on the clavicle where it makes the bump and align it with the the adjoining bone, but it does not stay there. I was also told by my primary doc that I have loose joints but again I don't know if this is related. I do not have health insurance so I cannot even goto the doctor about this. I'm so very much hoping you can tell me why my body is like this and what I can do about it I.e. Surgery, stretching, therapy etc. THANK YOU!
AnswerMost of us that are thin have ac joints that show. my AC joint sticks out and i have no shoulder problems. That being said: i cannot possibly tell you over the internet whether you have a problem or not. the clavicle is not a perfectly straight bone and it does have an angle to it that is normal. If you have shoulder pain or an old injury then you should get help. If you do not and this is purely cosmetic then leave it alone and pack more weight on your body.
there are several ways to deal with a joint that is out of place , but i am not sure that's your problem.
