Pain after going to chiropractor

Question
I was in an accident in 2009, shortly after that the lower back pain began. An X-ray showed I had spondalosis (sp) and a slight case of scoliosis. After many trip physical therapy there was no relief. Three months ago I had a baby and the pain grew even worse, so my doctor sent me to a chiropractor. The chiropractor never reviewed the X-rays. He had me lay on the table in my stomach and tried to realign my pelvic because it was higher on the right side. He tugged and pulled about 6 times. Next he cracked my back. The finally he said I have a few vertebrates out in my lower back and he could push them back in but it will hurt. I agreed. It didn't hurt when he did it but now 3 days later my back hurts worse than it ever has plus there is now pain going down both of my legs. I have another appointment in 3 weeks and I'm thinking about canceling it. Is this pain normal? I'm pretty concerened about this.

Answer
I understand your concern. Having pain shooting into the legs is not a good sign. He should have looked at your xrays. I would not let him see you again unless he looks at them and reviews them. I also have several patients that get worse before they get better.
That being said, he should still review all diagnostic studies you have had and should be paying close attention to your spondylolisthesis (i think this is what you meant to spell) if it is spondylosis then thats a fancy word for arthritis.
also, i normally see patients 2-3 times a week to start not every 3 weeks. you will never improve with a lax careplan like that.
if you need a referral or anymore help please let me know. if you need a referral for another doc i may be able to help if you are in a big city.
