Question
Hello. I would like to know some general information on how to relieve chronic back pain.
I'm a 25 year old female. I weight 123 lbs and I'm 5'2.
I have 2 kids one is 3yo and the other one is 11mo old.
I haven't had any trauma to my spine. The only thing close to my spine were the 2 epidurals that I had during both deliveries.

After my recent delivery, I have been having a lot of back pain.
Severe. And it's affecting my daily life. Please excuse me if my description of my pain offends you. But I don't know how to better describe the location of my back pain.

My back pain is in the bone that touches just above the butt crack.
I'm sorry, excuse my wording.
I'm not sure if I'm right but I believe it's the socrum.

I can't sleep laying on my back at all.
I can't lay down sideways for long periods of time.
The pain is sharp it almost feel like I have a bruise.
It takes me like 20 minutes for me to get out of bed in the morning
The pain radiates to my hips immobilizing my legs so I can't turn my hips to get up.
I could be sitting down and the pain starts gradually
Same goes to when I'm active. I can't be participating in a lot of physical activity because it triggers my back pain.

I'm not over weight, yet I don't excersize either.
I'm a stay at home mom.

I usually wear a band around my waist to tighten my hips and sacrum.
It temporarily relieves some pain.

It's just annoying me  because I can't sleep, I can't engage with my family because the of my back pain.

I have no medical insurance. I can't afford to go to a doctor.

Please help me with this pain of mine. I would appreciate if I could have some general guidelines or description of my condition

Answer
Hello and thank you for the inquiry. It sounds like you have a disc bulge in your lower spine which can put pressure on the delicate nerves in your spine that go down your legs. It also seems like the back pain you are having is related to the epidurals that you had. I have seen this plenty of times with women after pregnancy. That, along with the fact that your back muscles have become weaker, can cause you pain. Ideally you would get an MRI to confirm the disc problem but I understand if you cannot do that right now. The key to you getting better is stretching and strengthening.

I found the following site that has a 15 minute back exercise and stretching that you can do daily. I know you are busy but take 15 minutes of your day to do these simple exercises.

You should be using heat on your back multiple times a day for 20 minutes and then do the exercises after. Medication will help for a while but you have to strengthen your back muscles. Check out the site and I hope that helps you.
