Leg - lower back pain

Question
Sorry for the length.Excellent health until age 34, hospitalized only once for Upper     Respiratory Infection in 1971 in Army boot camp.
1984 - hit head on by drunk driver (he died) - seven breaks in ribs, punctured left lung, broken sternum, facial trama, broken right tibia (ball at knee - screwed on).
HMO was (is) not known for complete care. No physical therapy. After 3 months sought relief through recommmended masseus. Saw for a year. Found Myotherypist 9 months after acc.    Learned to manage headaches and upper back pain.
Tried chiropracters (3). Various Masseuses - Swedish, Shiatsu, reflexiology, etc, etc.
Tried Isolation tank, yoga, stretching, electrial massage units.
  Gave up for six years.
Went to massage/reflexologist/healer. Introduced to her mentor - a healer? from Happy Valley, Arizona. He did more for me in 3 40 minute sessions than all the preceding practioners. (Also , for my son, who fell from a second story onto a concrete berm at two years old.)
He fixed the thumb on my right hand, and the sternum bump and pain on the right side (through stretching me and moving the affected areas)- he was amazing - both to be in the same room with and the results I got.
Went to Astin Patterner for stance problems. He showed and changed the way I stood, sat and moved. The changes were obvious, painful and positive.
Found a masseus from a local school (Brian Utting) that was able to hurt me in creative and positive ways (she was the first to insert her fingers under my shoulder blades to break up adhesions on the muscles under the shoulder blade). Helping the midback pain and the lumps at mid shoulder and the numbness in my fingers. (I work with computers alot.)
My upper back is bearable at this point.
I fell on icey concrete steps three years ago (tailbone and between shoulders taking the brunt) and feel on my tailbone in my kitchen six months later.
My right leg was the problem since the accident (stiffnes, pain and numbness) Stiffness and pain was primarily on the outside edge of the upper and lower leg)
Saw my masseus last in Dec 00, the pain in right leg (the broken one) has shifted to the left.
Sciatic pain (when standing only - not sitting or laying). Pain sufficient to going home to sit - almost enough to elicit tears. Connection seems to be the hip bone and small back to upper leg muscles.
Three weeks ago, I hit tennis balls (first time in 30 years) with my son - the pain was gone for 7 to 10 days, slowly returning.
Any clues you can provide (that I can transfer to my therapists) would be appreciated.
Thank YOU.

Ge t A Better Pair Of Shoe's... Ha, Ha,.. :)
Next.. My Friend, I think you have been Doing a Fabulous job of keeping the Attitude that one need's to have in this kind of " PAIN MANAGEMENT/ EXERSISE PLAN ". I Applaude you!
It does take a strong mind, Not to mention a strong will to go on with the daily life of one's self. My hat is off to you. The only other thing I can say to you that might really help you, That you haven't Mentioned in the Written word's above are: Try Some " AQUATIC " Therapy. OR, At least get into a POOL. This will take the weight off your lower extremities, And do some walking in the pool, This will exersise the lower limb's, And Hopefully Ease the Nerve that is trying to Compress on you. Once again I salute you David. I wish there were alot more of them out there. But there is not, Keep on keeping on! You the man..
Thank's for writing me. A great question for me!!! THOMAS J HOSKINS
