QuestionMy wife is 37 weeks pregnant and suddenly started having shooting pains down the leg, making walking difficult, no pain while sitting. The OBGYN nurse said this happens sometimes, and is the baby pressing against the nerve (probably the sciatica nerve). There seems to be nothing to do but grin and bear it until the baby arrives.
While massageing a particularly painful area in the left buttock, I think I can feel a nerve (almost feels like it "pops" under my finger.
Massaging does seem to help slightly.
Is there anything else I can do? Maybe developing a better massage technique?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
John Oliver

My name is: TOM.
I am very glad you wrote to me! I am also very excited for you both. I too, And my lovely wife are going to get the hopefully great news today!! We sure hope she is Pregnant:)
NOW! Back to your Question. You are doing the right thing here, But there are a few more thing's you can do to make her feel a bit more cumfy.
#1) Use an ICE-PACK 20 MIN, 3-TIMES- A- DAY.
#2) Light Stretching, Dad can help with that,I will give you a web-site for this at the end of this letter.
#3) Take short walk's after meals, Weather permitting. But not too far.Just to get the blood flowing!
#4) " AQUATIC " " POOL " Exersise, This will be the best thing for you right now, This will take the weight off your lower extremities, And also ease the nerves that are trying to commress on you! you both can do it together, It is fun, And it does take the weight off your back, And leg's. You will notice the difference. I will give you this website here, It is our sister-site, It is: WWW.ABOUT.COM.
I use this site for everything!! It is a great site. Just type a word or word's into the SEARCH box, LIKE: BACK SURGERY/SCIATICA. Or you can even use big word's like:
HERNIATION/RADICULOPATHY. After putting the word or word's in it will take you to another place where you can choose from a zilloin other area's. it's great! you will learn everything you ever wanted to know about not only your back and nerves,But your whole body..I do hope I've been some help to you, JOHN OLIVER, I want to thamk you for writing me, It has been a pleasure for me. Say hello to your wife. I also want to say congratulations. Please go and log on to the site. It is very Informative. This is where you will get all the streching exersises. You can do them both! Ha, ha,Thank you for the great question.. THOMAS J HOSKINS
