Questionive had this back pain on the left side of my back for the past 6 weeks,i think i got it from squating a weight training that was too heavy for me, I also get cramp/nerve type pains in my left arm and a slight pain in my left side of my neck.the pain is not very bad,and theres is no loss of function of any part of my body BUT what really concerns me i this
i seem to be able to bend my upperbody to the left of my body too freely( it goes down further then i should be able to),its like im plastic man i can bend it as far to the right side,,also when i sit in a chair and bend my kness to my stomach and when i rotate my left knee i feel a crunchy ,clicking feeling in the lower back.im going for a x-ray next week, but can you tell me what you think it is?
AnswerDear Mark, thank you for the question.
It sounds like you pinched a nerve in your neck. When a lot of pressure is applied to the spine the discs bulge out to the opposite direstion and can get 'stuck'. When the disc hits a nerve, it will cause pain to run into the arm and also down the back (shoulderblade area).
This is not uncommon and usually can be corrected with the right exercises. Avoid bending forward or away from the pai, because that can bulge the disc out more. I recommend that you find a therapist, who specializes in spine care. Go to the McKenzie Instiute website at www.mckenziemdt.org, they have a locator site.
I hope this helps, hang in there. Heidi
