QuestionWhile he does push down on my back while laying face down, he also does other stretching, back cracking while I am sitting up. He does seem to know what he he doing. He says I am in a lot of pain because the muscles are very tight, so tight he says they feel like bricks. I'm told by this doc that I have myofascial pain syndrome and complex regional pain syndrome. I'm not sure I understand what this means, sounds like fancy terminology to me. Who would you recommend in the Amherst/Williamsville area? (zip codes 14226/14120). Thanks for your help.

About 3 months ago, I was injured when my airbags deployed in my car. I've been treated for joint and muscle inflammation in my jaw. The jaw seems to be getting better. I'm also receiving treatment for "whiplash." At least that is what I've been told I have. What started out as pain in the back of my neck has now spread through my mid back. The pain is dull and sometimes very unbearable. I have had episodes where I get knife-like pain radiating through my back where the slightest move is excruciating. The pain in the back of my neck is constant. Over the last few weeks, I have had episodes of dizziness as well as pain radiating down my arm. Today, my fingertips have been numb for most of the day. I tried PT (still going) but it doesn't seem to be helping. I tried going to a chiro (3rd time today). He did xray and said I have a curve in my upper neck which is causing a delay in healing. He worked on my back and neck some and now I feel worse. Should I continue chiro, PT? Do you think I should be concerned?

Does your present chiropractor push down on your back between your shoulders as you lay face down on the table? If so, I would recomend another chiro.
Let me know if you want a referral to another chiro.

PS: you should be concerned in that the pain sounds like it is limiting your activities and, if not corrected properly, the spinal cord in that area will start to suffer damage.

I apologize for the delay in answering. I was searching for a referral for you.
I found this doc in Williamsville, Thomas Lyons, D.C.
1622 Hopkins Rd
Williamsville NY 14221-1752
Phone 1: 716-689-0766
Give him a call and tell him Dr. Rozeboom from SORSI (Sacro Occipital Research Society, Int.) referred you. He can contact me at
[email protected] or 314/997/2308 on Monday if he wishes to.
It sounds like you do not respond well to cracking your back, what would help you is a steady pressure on the selected points and the blocking that Dr. Lyons does.
