Question
In December of 2000 I fell on the Ice at work, and suffered three compression fractures of my spine, L1, L3 and L5. I have been through years of physical theropy and the VA did a Nerve Study. The results were a 90% loss of function of the nerve at the point where the vertebre compressed it, but that 86% of the function has "Been re-routed" around the scar tissue. I suffer from constant cronic pain in my right buttox and right leg, and some intermittant parallisys of my right leg. Is there any hope that I will ever live without pain and the risk of having my leg give out while standing or walking. What theropy or treatment would you recommend, I recieved a 10% disability from the Workmans Compensation settlement. I was involved in a motorcycle accident in 1988, and suffered severe trauma to my right knee then, agrivating the issue of the nerve damage. Thank you, Phill

Thanks for writing!

Yes, there is hope. Even with injuries this extensive and chronic and severe, the body can still function.

The first thing to do is to make sure you are drinking enough water. Filtered or spring water, not tap water. For example, if you weigh 200 lbs you need 100 ounces of water a day, coffee and tea and other liquids do not count, just water.

Modern chiropractic has restored a degree of health and eliminated much of the pain in conditions such as yours. In particular, the group of doctors I am a part of have safe, effective ways of taking the stress off of  the spine, so that the pain is reduced. Go to www.sorsi.com and www.icak.com and look for a good chiropractor near you.

Let me know how it goes.
