Questionfor the last couple of months i have been experiencing a very sharp, but short pain on the right front side of my neck/throat area. It is always when i am laying down (usually at night or in the morning). I have no idea what it could be but i will try to describe it the best i can. It feels like something is out of place, like it's where it shouldn't be. if i swallow, it's like the action of swallowing pushes it to the side almost put whatever it is back in place but then it comes right back. The pain is EXTREMELY sharp especially this morning when it happened most recently as i was shifting/turning over in bed. So sharp that it shot pain up to my forehead and also to my right ear. After about 2 minutes (this has been the longest it has happened-usually it last less than a minute)something popped back into place and i can literally feel it and hear it. If i were to put my fingers on my neck as if to take feel my pulse, that is the area that seems to be not right and where it feels like something in my neck goes to where it shouldn't, causing this very strange pain. it's like nothing i've ever felt before. i would greatly appreciate your advice. Have you ever heard of something like this happening to anyone else before. Do you know or might guess what could be causing the pain? Thank you for your help. Nicole Cunningham

Thanks for writing!
This is strange. The only thing I can think of is that a bone in your neck is positioned so that the nerves cannot do what they are trying to do and so it builds up a nerve energy there at the blockage. The laying down position puts the neck in a position which does not help the nerves. The movement shifts the bones enough that the blockage is temporarily lifted.
Go to www.sorsi.com or www.icak.com and look for a good chiropractor near you. They can get to the root of this and find out what is causing it. And probably correct it without drugs or surgery.
