Question
I have had disk removel at L5/S1 with ray cages about 7 years ago with great results, about a year ago I started haveing trouble again in the same area. Sometimes when I bend over it will hit me with pain and legs go out. And so it starts again. I will be sitting in a chair and I will get hit with nerve pain in right leg that will lift me out of the chair, But only last 15 seconds at a shot. Now what, do I start all over again.

Answer
Bob,

Here's the germane question:  Why did you need to have the disc removed?  Before you answer, go to the underlying question:  what caused that problem?

Nearly all disc problems are caused by muscular contractions that pull neighboring vertebrae together, crushing the disc and trapping nerve roots.  Pain results from the fatigue of the involved muscles and the pressure on the nerves and sometimes, facet joints of the vertebrae.

What causes these muscular contractions?  Your brain's conditioning, via tension habit-formation, usually from stress or injury.

That explains why back surgeries are so seldom successful.  It also points to the necessary step in recovery form nearly all back problems:  improve your muscular control to the degree of being able to relax your back muscles.

So, your next step is to inform yourself about the process and then undertake it.  Physical therapy techniques are not much more successful than surgical techniques, so I'll refer you to the information you need, from the field of somatic education.
