Questiondear doctor, i have had an mri,emg , and now a mylogram. my impression reads that i have mild lumbar spondylosis at L4-L5 with a left eccentric broad based disc bulge and mild narrowing of the left recess at this level. my emg showed I have acute nerve irritation at S1.I am going to be 54 years old , and was wondering if you think surgery would be possible or is my back a wreck like my doctor said. thank you.
AnswerI would have to view the xrays myself, but by your explanation, I don't believe surgery is necessary, yet. I am a chiropractor and have treated or help treat many people with similar symptoms. I suggest talking with a chiropractor, going over your xrays and MRI and other records and discuss what your options are. Surgery should be the last thing on your mind. If you don't see a chiropractor currently, I suggest going to www.sorsi.com to find a doctor near you. I am a part of this group and we use low force adjusting, which means we don't "twist and pop" you, unless it is necessary. We use a blocking system (explained in person) that helps releave alot of the pressure in and around the nerve irritation. If you are in Minnesota near the Twin Cities, or if you have any other questions or concerns, please email me.
