Tingling Face

Question
A couple of months ago, I got my first neck adjustment from a chiropracter.  A few weeks later, my face and hands started tingling and burning.  Both sides.  I am constantly dizzy, have headaches, and my ears are ringling.  My jaw has swollen up and it is hard to eat.  I have a knots on both sides of my spine in my neck.  I am currently seeing a different chiropracter that keeps telling me I need another neck adjustment.  However, I am scared out of my mind to get one. I have been to my family doctor and I have had a ct scan to rule out brain tumor.  I have also had a nerve conduction test to rule out a pinched nerve.  I don't know what else to do.  I am thinking about seeing a neurologist.  What should I do?

Answer
Dear Tera,

The symptoms you describe are typical of contracted neck muscles.  What's frightening to people is that they don't know how to correct the problem; however, it is easily correctable by the methods of clinical somatic education (not chiropractic, in general). I'm directing you to an information page on that topic:  somatics.com/page3.htm.

Forget brain tumor (feel free to do tests to rule it out, but...); muscular contractions result from brain conditioning, not brain damage.  Brain conditioning is acquired by habit-formation.  You can change it via a training process, as described in the link I've given you.

Please see, also, the article on whiplash injuries at somatics.com/page4.htm, which pertains also to chiropractic treatment poorly done.

with regard,
Lawrence Gold
