Question2 1/2 months ago, I had surgery on my lower ribs. I had "bilateral slipping rib syndrome": On my right side, my 10th rib was slipping up underneath my 9th rib, and my 11th rib was slipping up underneath my 10th rib. On my left side, my 11th rib was slipping up underneath my 10th rib. I was in pain for almost one year before the surgery. During surgery, the surgeon went through my abdomen on my right side and shaved off a few cetimeters of both of the slipping rib tips and removed some broken off cartilage. He then went through the left side and removed a few centimeters of the one slipping rib tip and took out the broken off cartilage. I have two 3.5 inch cuts on both sides of my abdomen. The surgeon told me that recovery time can vary. For some it may take as little as 6 weeks to feel better, but for others, it may take up to 6 months to feel better. It's been 2 1/2 months and I am still in pain... Recovery for this seems to be taking a VERY long time. It's extremely slow... Do you think this is normal? I'd like to know your thoughts on recovery time for this? Also, I get a lot of muscles spams in my back. I had them before the surgery and am still having them after it. One doctor said muscles spasms sound normal, especially in this type of injury. Why is this? I don't really understand why I would be getting muscle spasms in my back when the injury is on the front of my of my ribs... Is it because the ribs connect to ths spine? My third and last question, my nerves seem to be ultra sensitive in my back and spine. Sometimes I get what feels like chills all the time. And I seem to be able to feel double the amount I used to. When I put my shirt on, I am able to feel the fabric rub against my skin with any movement. I am also very sensitive to cold temperatures. Supposedly this is all "normal". Do you agree? I'm guessing that my core nerves that connect from the spine through my ribcage are still riled up from trauma. Is this a correct guess? Why does this happen? I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I anticipate hearing your answers to my three questions. Thank you so much.

Is is bad that you have had to go through this!
1)I do not know the healing time. But, I do know it will be much shorter if your general health and nutrition is good.
2)Muscles spasms. Surely this is a magnesium deficiency or dehydration or both. How much water do you drink? I recommend the book "Your Bodies many cries for Water" by Dr. Batman-----.
Natural Calm is a good brand of magnesium citrate, water soluble, found in many health food stores.
3)Sensitive nerves--These symptoms are not normal. They indicate nerve irritation, either from a bone getting in the way of the nerves or from uncontrolled inflammation. The magnesium and water will help, as well as a lot of herbs and vitamins. It would be an individual thing.
I recommend you go to www.sorsi.com, www.icak.com or www.soto-usa.com and find a good chiropractor near you. Ask them if they do nutritional counseling before you make an appointment.
Very likely, to get this healed is going to require massive changes in your diet and lifestyle.
