Question
My son works on an oil rig, and he thinks he pulled something in his neck, possibly lifting heavy machinery. His throat is swollen around his adams apple, and it sounds like his sinus area too. When he talks he sounds like he has a bad cold.

Kelly, I'm sorry to say but without a proper exam I can not give you an exact answer.  It sounds like he might have pulled a muscle, but it could be something worse.  I would have it looked at as soon as possible to rule out any other complications.  This sounds like it is out of my expertise.
