Question
i was in a car accident in june, 05. a truck lost control and hit the driver's side of my car. i received torn ligaments as as a result. i have been dealing with almost constant pain in my neck, shoulders and back since the accident. but, for the past 2 months my little finger on my left hand has been numb and the past 2 or 3 days my left lower back  and left buttocks have been constantly hurting...what's the deal? thanks, stacy

From your description, along with possible torn ligaments, you have muscles in contraction -- a common result of injuries and the shock to the nervous system.

Muscles in contraction develop muscle fatigue and get sore.

Numbness in the hands is a common result of neck muscles in contraction squeezing the nerves that go to the hands.
