Question
Hello, I have had trouble with a string of muscles deep in my left trap.  they are tight like a rope.  It becomes aggravated when lifting heavy overhead or when doing a handstand in yoga.  I have tried months of massage focussed on my upper back.  yoga worked with weights .all of which work temporarily.. I have had x-rays and they seem to be fine.  The problem , im sure, stems from occupational.  I am a hardwood floor sander and have run a floor drum for over 12 years.  Nothing so far has broken down this rope in my trap.  My doctor prescribed naproxen 500mg.  which works but is not getting to the cause. any thoughts?
thanks
john

Answer
Dear John,

These issues are definitely being caused by the muscle and fascial system, but I believe you need something more aggressive than massage and stretching to eliminate the problem.

Check out the below websites and look for a practitioner in your area who is certified or has taken some of the advanced coursework.  All of the listed techniques have been proven as advanced treatment options for myofascial pain syndrome, alleviation of scar tissue and adhesions, and recurrent muscle spasms. I am not certified myself, but know some of the techniques and get great results in only a few visits.  Good luck John!
