QuestionI woke up from a nap a few days ago, and had a lot of pain on the left side of my neck, my shoulder, my arm to just below the elbow, and my clavicle. The previous day I had experienced some pain my lower back area by pushing a gate, but the pain went away by the end of the evening, and hasn't flared back up, so I don't know if that's related or not. The pain seems to be worst when I bend my arm like when I'm combing my hair or when I shrug my shoulders.
Is this something that I should go see a doctor about?
AnswerYes you should see a doctor, preferably a chiropractor. Without a proper exam I am just guessing, but it sounds like you strained a muscle in your neck while sleeping and that is causing the shoulder pain and if you had your arm bent, that would be the answer to the elbow. Why I suggest a chiropractor is because a medical doctor is just going to give you pain relievers and muscle relaxors and tell you to wait it out. A chiropractor is going to address the problem and attempt to correct it. If you have any other questions or concerns please email me.
