QuestionQUESTION: I was in a car crash over a year ago. I was stopped, then rear-ended by a car that was doing around 70mph. This caused me to hit the cargo van in front of me, and that van hit a ford explorer. Airbags did not deploy, shoulder harnass did not engage. I had minor internal abdominal damage (upper uterus and lower urinary bladder) pain in this area has subsided significantly and is bothersome only when I am touched, (kicked, karate chopped, ...)in that area. I am still experiencing chronic pain in my back. There is a scoliosis type curve from T5-T8 that was not there before. And I do have a herniated disk at L5-S1. I have not gotten a clear diagnosis regarding Thoracic region. I am unable to wear a bra due to the constant pain. I feel that it may be severe and very frequent muscle spasms. Any pressure in that area of my back (T5-T8)spawns a very uncomfortable tingling sensation. I have been to my internist, pain management (omg - never again!), chiroractors (2), physical therapists (4), and massage therapists (3). I am very desperate and interested in any suggestion you may have. I have a husband and two young children (responsible for the karate chopping - lol!) who depend on me. Thank you so much for your service!!
ANSWER: Hi Heather,
Looks like you covered your bases. If you went to a DC that knew what he was doing, you wouldn't have a functional scoliosis or a herniated disc anymore. Sounds like you just went to the wrong doctors. Spinal decompression and/or flexion/distraction cures herniated discs. It is proven, researched and solid clinically. If your DC didn't have F/D tables and only manipulated you, then you need to find one that does. Let me know the area you are in and I will find you someone that knows what they are doing, your problems shouldn't be that difficult to treat successfully.

QUESTION: Thank you so much! I live close to Jonesboro, Arkansas. It is great to know there is hope - I don't know whether I have trouble communicating my concerns to the people I have seen so far, or if I have just had terrible luck. Will spinal decompression work for the Thoracic region?
AnswerYes it will Heather, specifically, flexion/distraction would be more applicable since spinal decompression is for neck and low back. Call around the area and ask to make sure the Chiropractor has F/D tables, if not, hang up until you find one that does. If you have no luck, I'll find one when I get done with my patients.
Good Luck!
