Question
hi, about 6 weeks ago after doing some DIY at home i  noticed a pain in the top right hand side of my back especially around my shoulder blade.the next day i had a terrible headache and was dizzy any time i tried to bend my head down. my doctor gave me anti-inflammatory medication which didn't have much affect.the pain  seems to be there constantly and gets worse when doing even small household tasks.I now also have a slight weakness in my right shoulder and arm and pain in my right buttocks and the top of my right leg.have you any ideas of what it could be and how it can be put right?
thanks
mary

Answer
You might have two different conditions going on - one in your neck and another in your lower back, and they may not be related. The symptoms in your right arm may be resulting from a compressed nerve in your neck or upper back (possibly a bulging or herniated disc). It may benefit you to have an x-ray or an MRI done to rule out any abnormalities in your spine.

The pain in your buttocks and top of the right leg could be caused by a number of things. I don't have enough information about your background and past medical history to make any comments about what could be the potential cause.

In any case, I would suggest you follow up with your primary care physician or seek a qualified chiropractor to evaluate your complaints. If the problems in your back are musculoskeletal in nature, you will benefit from undergoing physical therapy, chiropractic care, and massage therapy. Try to explore all conservative options before seeking more invasive procedures, but make sure you have everything properly evaluated first.
