upper back pain caused by poor posture?

Question
I have frequent upper back pain and have always had poor posture. What can I do to help this problem and correct, at least to some extent, my posture.  Are there exercises that will help?

Answer
Hi, Wendy.

Upper back pain is usually muscle fatigue caused by a too-forward head position, which in turn is caused by too-tight abdominal muscles.  Back muscles overwork to keep the head up.

There are exercises that will help.  You can learn more at somatics.com/page7.htm; see the description of the program, Overcoming the Myth of Aging.
