QuestionQUESTION: I am an amatuer bodybuilder. About 8 weeks ago I was lifting too heavy on bench press as well as shruggs for the traps. I hurt my shoulder muscle. I stopped for about a week, then went right back into lifting (not smart). A week and half later I had horrible pain in neck and right shoulder. Went to PCP, gave me cortizone steroid pack and my neck felt a lot better, but then the nerve damage kicked in pretty bad. For about 6 weeks I have had nerve damage that has caused muscle atrophy in my right chest, lats, and right tricep. My right bicep is fine. At the time I couldn't even do 1 pushup and I normally do 60 in a minute. Now, total of 6 or 7 weeks of injury, my neck feels a lot better, and my arms and chest are slightly stronger but noticeably going down in size. should i get mri done and see a neurologist or see what a chiropractor can do?? I feel that if my neck doesn't hurt anymore, then how long will it take for the nerves to heal and gain muscle size again. (not lifting till tingling goes away down my arm.) letting it heal. thanks for your help
ANSWER: John,
I hate to say it but this will not just go away on its own. The only way it will go away is when whats causing it goes away. I highly recommend seeing an Upper Cervical Specific Doctor of Chiropractic. This way you will have the cause shown to you and the method of correction explained in a logical manner as well. All without harmful drugs or surgery, and the best part of this is that not only can you get back into action again, but you can potentially improve past where you were previously in your competition and training.
If you are interested you can send me your town and state, and I will see what I can do for you.

QUESTION: Thank you very much...I live in Memphis, TN...
AnswerJohn,
There are no specialists in Tennessee, I actually have a few patients that come in to us from Tennessee because of that. If you truly want to get this taken care of, I highly suggest that you plan on coming out for a 2 week intensive care program (that is if everything checks out properly that I would be able to help you). You can plan to come out for a day of tests, and then if I find what I am looking for, then you would need to do the 2 week program.
Let me know when you would like to come out for the day of testing and any questions you may have, so we can get started on helping you to get well.
