QuestionI took a bad fall from approx 10-12 feet onto cement aggregate. I am a petite 52 year old female with a history of lower back pain. My lower back pain is back. When I recently took this fall I was helping a friend paint trim on his house. I apparently fell on my head and shoulder. I had bleeding from the side of my head and am unsure if I was knocked out, when I tried to stand I almost passed out, when I stood up I felt blood running down my face and head. After seeking medical help I was x-rayed on my shoulder only. No break. Along with my shoulder my neck and middle back are so painful now that I am housebound. Simple things are a painful chore. The doc said to move my arm so my shoulder doesn't freeze up, but when I do it makes my spine and back rib hurt, its hurts to breath deeply.
My head was cut and I was given a tetanus injection. I generally experience migraine's on a regular basis, as of now I have a different type of pain in my head and neck but has gotten better after 4 days of rest and ice/pain killers.
My friend said he is going to have his homeowners insurance take care of my medical bills and his agent is coming on Monday, what do I need to do to protect my future health issues if any? How will I know if I'm going to be healthy again? What if I'm not? What should I do for myself? I have no income nor insurance as I have been unable to keep an employer because of my bad health. I was seeking pain management for my previous health issues, migraines and lumbar pain. I am also bipolar and struggle with depression.

AnswerSusan,
You most certainly suffered from an Upper Cervical Spine Injury from this fall. You may have had a previous injury as well, but there is no question that this one set you farther into destruction. If you truly want to get well and assure a better future for you then you will have to have the cause located and also corrected.
What part of the country are you in?
I can see if there is possibly a specialist near you that could help you, but there is no question you need help.
I would gladly help you as I do many people from different parts of the country although it didn't sound like you would be in a position to travel to St Louis for a month of intensive care.
Do you have any X-Rays of your Cervical spine or just you shoulder?
I would need to see some Cervical Spine films to help me find out what is actually going on with you.
