Questioni got the results of a CT scan done and do not understand what it means... it says L3 L4 and L5 spondylolysis is present and at the L3-4 level there is a right paracentral and right lateral disc protrusion which is partly calcified and extends into the right l3-4 neural foramen and at the L4-5 level a clacified central disc herniation is present.... could you please help me understand this
AnswerHello, Sharon,
The results indicate bone breakdown of the lower three lumbar vertebrae and pressure on the discs, usually from long-term excessive tension of the back muscles, possibly with a trauma involved.
Calcification indicates such pressure as a long-standing condition.
I've written about back conditions on my website; see somatics.com/page4b.htm.
