Question
I was wondering if you can tell me what the results of my MRI means? Its not my lower back that pains me its my left leg only. Here is what the results show: Arthritic changes at 2 levels of the spinal cord and it is causing pressure on nerves (Pinched nerves) causing the pain in my leg. The cyst on the left my be why my left leg is so painful. My doctor wants me to see a therapy specialist for injection to decrease the inflammation and possibly improve the pain. What are these injections called? Then if these injestions don't work she wants me to see a neurosurgeon who would be the Dr to do surgery. If I did surgery, would I be off my feet for a while? Also states Impression: Degeneration and moderate paracentral protrusion of the disk at L4-5 compressing the L5 transiting root. and degeneration and moderate central protrusion of the disk at L5-S1 compressing the S1 transiting roots on both sides. Plus 1.3 cm fluid or cyst is seen in the facet joint on the left side at L5-S1. So what in the world does all this mean??? Soory that this is so long.
Thank you

Answer
Missy,
Can you send me any MRI/XRay pictures that you have?  You can email them to me.  Hold off on any surgery for now, because there is a very high chance that you do not need one.  Let me see your pics and then we can go from there.
