Question
Hi Steven,
On Dec 24, 2009 I slipped on ice and flew off my front porch and landed on my right
buttocks.
I went to the doctor, had x-rays a bone scan and an MRI.
The MRI findings were:
There is an acute approximately 50% compression fracture deformity of the L1 vertebral body. The remainder of the lumbar vertebra demonstrates normal height.
At the L5-S1 level there is a diffuse disc bulge effacing the anterior aspect of the thecal sac. The visualized spinal cord and conus are normal in configuration and signal intensity.
Initially I had major pain in my sides and lower back which has been getting better every day.
I started PT in early February, my therapist said I also have a twisted pelvis, which is causing me pain in my right groin as well as my right buttocks.
My questions are:
1) Will my pelvis realign on it抯 own or is it something I will have to live with forever?
2) Is the bulging disc causing the twisted pelvis?
I have seen the PT six times as of today and have been doing all the exercises he has given me and I do not seem to be getting better and seem to feel worse.

I thank you in advance for any thoughts or insight you may be able to give me.
Tom

Answer
You may want to look into Spinal decompression therapy.
I have been using this technique in my practice for the past 6 years.
I have seen great success in treating patients with bulging and herniated discs.
This treatment will not fix the fact that you have a compression fracture, but should help the diffuse disc bulge.
