QuestionFor the last 20 years I have been getting these thunder clap like head pains,, they started out happening once a month and throughout the years they have gotton worse. I have just dealt with it pretty much. But the last 3 years they have gotten much worse happening several time a day. They happen when I bendover, walk a small distance, stressed out, sudden scare, taking a shower. Also sleeping really hurts the back of my head. I have tried several types of pillows but they all hurt. Most times the quality of sleep that I get due to the pain that the pillow causes will indicate the type of day I will have with the head pains. I have had an MRI and it shows narrowing of the cervial spine and stenosis. I have had shots in the back of my neck and still not help. Can you help? I am desprate for releif. I cry and scream in pain all the time all day long.

AnswerDear KC,
Your description fits the profile of muscular spasms in the neck and base of the head.
Given that you've cleared the question of more serious conditions, I refer you to a method of alleviating those muscle spasms: clinical somatic education.
May I direct you to read my article on headaches and then follow the option given. Contact a practitioner.
