C1 causing endocrine problems?

Question
Dear Doctor,
I go to a chiropractor who does cranial adjustments.  At my visit today, he told me he thinks that my C1 was injured when I was a child (at age 5 our car was hit by drunk driver), and that injury is the cause of my long-term health problems including adrenal insufficiency, hypoglycemia, nausea, etc.
I've been going to doctors for 12 years and despite extensive testing, no one has been able to find the source of my multiple health problems.  I'd love to believe my chiropractor, but it sounds a little hoakey.  Do you think he might be right, and if so, what can I do about it?
Thank you very much for your time and help.  I truly appreciate it.

Answer
I certainly am not one to poo-poo every idea that comes along, but I don't do cranial adjustments... I can't measure their motion and therefore don't feel comfortable doing the technique.

The top cervical bone is responsible for a LOT of neurology, including a lot of the things you were talking about.  However, that is in the cervical spine, not in the cranial bones.  I have had miraculous recoveries from symptoms from my patients, things I never would have believed could happen.

There are in fact chiropractors that ALL they adjust is the top cervical bone, and they get phenomenal results.  Chiropractic is so safe, it seems silly to not give the chiropractor ( and your nervous system, that controls EVERYTHING in your body ) a chance to heal itself.  If you aren't satisfied with the objective results, go to another chiropractor.   We're just like everyone else: 80% are average, 10% are great, and 10% suck.  Eventually you find a great one.

I hope yours is.   Should you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me through my website, www.dynamicclinic.com

Sincerely,

Dr. Peter Carr
