QuestionI have a tingling between my shoulder blade and my spine at shoulder height. This occurs when I position my arms or my body in a certain way. If I am carrying something of significant weight with my arms outstretched it turns the tingling into a sharp stabbing pain which results in me letting go of the item. The area then remains tender for a few seconds and returns to tingling.
I have not seen my GP over this yet. I have no history of back injury and am not on any medication.

Hi, John Paul,
I don't think it's a back issue; I think it's a neck issue. Sounds like your neck muscles are extremely contracted -- enough to cause disc compression and nerve impingement. The neck muscles don't end at the neck, but go down the back.
