QuestionGood Morning! I have suffered from lower back pain for several years. It seems to be radiating down my legs and and hips. It feels more like a nerve pain. It's not like most back/neck pain, where it feels better if you massage it. It seems to be deep down inside my lower back. I believe it's coming from my sacrum area. I'm unable to sleep on my back or stomach as it's too painful, rolling over and getting outta bed can be very hard as well. It's much worse when I'm laying down or just standing for long periods of time.
I've had several MRI's and have been told I have Modic Type 1 changes and end plate spurring. I've tried a physical therapy, inversion table and steroid shots. Nothing really helped, but the shots took the edge off at least.
It was suggested that I see a Rheumatologist earlier this year. When I went to see him, he didn't acknowledge the Modic changes. I tried to bring it up, but he felt we need to start PT ASAP. From everything I've read and tried myself, PT does not help. As a matter a fact, for me it made it worse.
The other physicians I've talked with about Modic change do not seem to believe in the Modic Antibiotic Spinal Therapy. I'm not sure what to think of this, but I'm 46 years old, 135lbs, workout 3 to 4 times a week and try to stay reasonably healthy. I just want to go back to my life without being in pain all the time.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
AnswerHi Kari,
I understand your frustration.
Please go to http://www.necksolutions.com/modic-antibiotic-spinal-therapy.html
there is information regarding the protocol and timeframe.
Please use the contact at that site to get in touch with me. I will then give you my personal email and try to help you with this. It is something best done in a format other than the board.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Dr. Steve
