Question
Hi.
My GP diagnosed me with a condition called Hypermobility ( or double jointed) i think i read that this can lead to arthritis.Every day my back is absolutely in pain. Nothing helps. i tried phisiotheraty, occupuncher, exercising, taking tablets but still nothing helps. My GP says i just have to get used to this pain. I think that there surely should be something what may help and ease my pain. Please could you give me some info and may be advice what could help me?

Regards,  Tatiana

Answer
Tatiana,

Hypermobility in the back is very hard to treat. This usually can not be done with pills. Strong pain medication can dull the pain and sometimes eliminate it. However you do not want to live on pain medications for long periods of time and masking the problem will only make it worse in the long run. The right physical therapist is important. You need to find one that specializes in Hypermobility.

Therapeutic Muscle Stretching is the preferred treatment. Finding a physical therapist or chiropractor that specializes in this technique may help a lot.

I wish you good health.

Rusty
