Question
I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE MY DOCTOR WAS OUT OF TOWN AND I COULDNT STAND THE PAIN ANY MORE I WAS TAKING ALIEVE DIDNT HELP,MY NECK HAD BEEN HURTING FOR A FEW WEEKS I THOUGHT I SLEPT WRONG,SO THEY TOOK X-RAYS IT SHOWED I HAD ARTHRITIS ON 3,5,6 AND SPURS AND SAID CALL MY DOCTOR IN A WEEK STILL IN PAIN THEY DID GIVE ME MOTRIN 600 DONT REALLY HELP , MY HOT TUB MAKES IT FEEL GOOD FOR A WHILE. Will i have to live with this pain the rest of my life?

Answer
Nate,

It depends on how bad the spurs are. Most of the time with proper management the pain can be controlled. If the spurs are sever enough then they can usually be removed. The are much better medication options than Motrin. Also it is very dangerous to take this level of Motrin for over a few days.

You do not need to wait a week to call your doctor. I would call and set up an appointment today. You should also consider seeing an Orthopedic doctor. This decision can be made after seeing your regular doctor. Since the pain started recently proper treatment should be able to control the pain without surgery.
