Question
Do you have a few exercises for children to do to help improve movement. The child in question has Arthritis in her Knee. She is two. Any information on the subject would be welcome.
Elsie Eady

Answer
Elsie,

It is difficult to get children that young to do any exercise that is uncomfortable. Just sitting in a chair and moving the leg back and forth will help. It you have access to a public pool water exercise is great. The buoyancy of the water takes pressure off the joint making it easier to exercise, the warmer the pool the better. One of our local pools has a hot tub.

The key with children is to make the exercise fun. This helps distract them from the discomfort. Most bookstores have fun activity books.

You could also have a consult with a pediatric physical therapist. They would be able to give you specific ideas based on her specific situation.

I with her improved health,

Rusty
