This is a tough question. Much of the answer depends on the type of arthritis you have. For most arthritis pain over the counter anti-inflammatories work the quickest in relieve arthritis pain. But the do not last long and are not that safe to take. Cox 2 inhibitors take longer to work but manage day-to-day pain better for most people and are much safer.

For serious types of arthritis like Rheumatoid, lupus or the many other types of autoimmune types of arthritis then it becomes a much harder question to answer, one that can only be answered between you and your doctor.

There are three great supplements for arthritis pain. The fastest is called Sam-E. The other two are fatty acid supplements one is omega 3 fatty acids and the other is Cetyl Myristoleate. Both usually take two weeks to kick in but are totally safe and when taken daily can control arthritis pain in many people.
