QuestionHow commom is this growth on the back side of the knee cap after having a knee replaced and should I worry about cancer because part of the treatment to to remove the growth is radiation after removing the growth surgically.
AnswerDear Charlie, Usually radiation treatments are NOT required unless cancer has been detected with the biopsy.... Your doctor should have told you if this growth was malignant (cancerous) or benign when you had the surgery to remove it and had the biopsy.... If your doctor did not tell you the biopsy results, then it is YOUR job to get a copy of the biopsy report and read it for yourself.... Doctors often do not tell patients results of the biopsy since a lot of doctors would rather keep their patients dumb and in the dark... Therefore, if you are having radiation treatments and you still have part of the growth there that could not be removed with surgery, then you MUST get a copy of the biopsy report and find out if you do hav cancer..... I also STRONGLY suggest that you talk to your doctor and tell him/her to be straight forward with you and tell you EVERYTHING he/she knows from the surgery and biopsy report...
Thank you, karen
