What can cause pain in hands and feet

Question
I am currently suffering from severe pain in both of my hands and both of my feet.  The pain in my hands is on the bottom, beneath the fleshy part by the pinky.  The pain is identical on both hands.  I also experience pain on the outside bottom of my feet if i walk a lot or run on them (basketball).  The pain in my hands has become constant, while the pain in my feet only lasts a few hours after exercise.  It is somewhat of a burning sensation and becomes sensitive to the touch.  There have been times where both my hands / feet hurt so much that i couldn't even drive!  I'm only 26 and have been doing a lot of research on the net to try and figure out what may be causing this.  Does this sound like a type of arthritis?  What can i do to ease the pain?  Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Answer
Dear Paul,  This type of pain could be arthritis, but it actually sounds more like symptoms of Diabetes....  I have diabetes and my feet burn, sometimes have sharp pains, and are very sensitive to the touch and I can feel even the smallest thing on the floor like sand etc...

I would strongly suggest that you see your doctor and have a glucose tolerance test done and he/she may want to do a RF blood test to check you for Rheumatoid Arthritis and maybe even an ANA blood test to check you for possible other autoimmune diseases....

thank you,   karen
