Question
I was diagnosed with MS in 1997. One attack, lesions seen on MRI but spinal fluid normal. Have been taking beta seron ever since--no exacerbations since then-still have fatigue and some other symptoms. Someone suggested I might have had a stroke because of high glucose for some time which can also cause lesions. Have you heard of this?

Answer
Dear Kathy,   I have never heard of high glucose levels in the blood causing a stroke....  High glucose levels can cause siezures, but never heard of it causing a stroke....

Stroke lesions and MS lesions are different as they appear on an MRI.....  However, some lesions can be causes by viruses etc which must be determined to be seperate from MS...

I would hope that you have a MS specialist and not just a family doctor or internist physician treating you, because you need frequent testing and follow-up by a MS specialist so that the progression or stabalization of this disease in controlled.....

here is a web site that will halp you....

thank you,   karen
