Question
Amelia - I was recently diagnosed with Morphea.  I've had spots for years and finally found a dermatologist who could come up with a diagnosis.  I am unclear on the treatment of this and the follow up (as there has been nothing scheduled or recommended as a follow up).  Do you know of a specialist in the Ohio or surrounding area?  I'm in Columbus.

thanks in advance.

Answer
There is a scleroderma specialist (rheumatologist) at the Cleveland Clinic and the Medical University of Ohio (Toledo) as well as others within a reasonable driving distance from Columbus (University of Pittsburgh, for instance.)

You can find all these doctors on their respective medical center websites and many others at the Scleroderma Foundation website http://www.scleroderma.org  You can also call the Scleroderma Foundation, Ohio Chapter for more information - 866-849-9030.

Any of these doctors may also refer you to a dermatologist that they work with who is familiar with localized scleroderma.  It helps a lot to see someone who has seen many, many cases, even if you have to travel to find them.  They may not feel you need a follow-up after a thorough assessment, but I'm sure they'll leave the door open should new symptoms develop.
