My 12 year old daughter was diagnosed in october with severe inflammatory bowel disease she has since been treated with Colazol and has had 4 or 5 Remicade treatments. for the last month she has had multiple joint pain and swelling, chronic fever and worsening ibd symptoms .she continues to struggle to maintain her weight and suffers with fatigue now she has developed red swollen painful lumps around her ankles and can hardly open her mouth wide enough to eat .I don't know what to think anymore are these possibly side effects of the remicade or  the colazal? hard to believe since they are also used to treat these symptoms . Is it possible that she has RA and IBD or do you know of any autoimmune disorder that affects these two sytems specifically? if not what med do you think might work best for all  of these symptoms ? thanks in advance dara G

These symptoms are not consistent with side effects form Remicade. It is possible that she has RA and IBD it is not unheard of.

There are many things that these symptoms can be consistent with.

I could name some but at this time that would be like throwing gas on a fire.

I suggest that you take you daughter to the doctor tomorrow. I do not want to scare you, the symptoms turn out to not be serious but I am concerned by the description you give.
