Question
i have had a rheumatoid arthritis test the result was 15 is this border line or does it mean i have arthritis i am going to see my gp monday and would like to know before i go ?
Many thanks

Answer
Paula,

Since the normal range is below 20 it does not mean that you have Rheumatoid arthritis. It also does not mean that you do not. You can have RA and have an RA Factor of 0. Most people with RA have an elevated RA Factor. I have seen it over 400.

It also does not mean that you do not have some other type of arthritis.

Take the results as good news. While there are other things that go into a RA diagnosis having an RA of 15 means that in this point of the diagnosing you are less likely to have RA. This is a good thing because it is one of the worse types.
