Question
Hi,

History: I am an active 31yr old female. I have an undifferentiated auto immune disorder that docs are looking into the possible effect it may be having on my autonomic nervous system. They began checking that since they noticed my pupils do not react appropriately to light. Here is what they know so far...
High ANA 2 separate titers & 2 patterns Nucleolar & speckled
Digestive problems ...unable to keep more than a bite of food down at a time and cant eat normal food, but cant figure out the problem. eat only a couple nutrition bars a day, and somehow look healthy and blood work is good for most part.
right severe long thoracic mononeuropathy
joint pain mainly hips & shoulders
headaches
rash on left arm for 4 years doesn't spread or itch

Current Issue: I work out a lot to deal with stress and pain. It becomes a vicious cycle, the more pain, the more i work out and usually the more injured i become. Problem is the injury is usually the form of a muscle snapping. There will be tightness and then it snaps and the tightness is relieved, but the pain is sharp and then never heals. I am flexible (can easily kick the hat off someone's head that is up to a foot taller than me), so when the muscle tightens, it takes me by surprise and usually doesn't make sense at the time. I am either warmed up well, or not doing anything strenuous, and the muscle tightens and it snaps. Then it never seems to heal. I have one injury (shoulder / scapula) going on 6 years, left hamstring 2.5 years with chronic snapping and tearing, and a couple days a muscle in my right quad tightened and then snapped and it has been throbbing ever since, even with rest and ice.

Question: Have you come across an auto immune or any other disorder that causes muscles to be more susceptible to tearing? Is there a deficiency that you are aware of that would cause that?

Reason: I need to remain active. It is my coping mechanism, but the pain being caused by the muscles snapping and tearing is making that difficult. Any advice / info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Vick,

I am sorry to hear about all you are going through. Any one of these is more than enough.

I am sorry but I am unaware of anything that can be causing the muscles ailment that you describe. This is the first time I have ever heard of such a condition. I wish I could be of more help.

Rusty
