Question
hi - my mom has spondylitis & fybromyaglia and recently received a cbc test result low on hemoglobin/hematocrit/mcv/mchv and high rbc -- I've read that sometimes individuals with arthritis have developed anemia -- how will i find out if the anemia is due to arthritis, what further tests may she need?

Answer
Loretta,

One of the major symptoms of spondylitis is anemia. Spondylitis is considered a form of autoimmune arthritis. Really there are not other tests needed. Your mom needs to work with her doctor to treat the anemia while at the same time work to find a treatment that is effective for both her conditions.

Here is some more info about spondylitis.
